The Blue Shield of California Foundation—funded by contributions from Blue Shield of California, a mission-based, not-for-profit health plan—supports lasting and equitable solutions to make California the healthiest state and end domestic violence. The organization believes that when people work together to remove the barriers to health and well-being, especially for California’s most affected communities, we can create a more just and equitable future for everyone.

The foundation has three main focus areas: strengthening economic security and mobility, breaking the cycle of domestic violence, and aligning systems with community priorities.

With a focus on these issues, the foundation regularly offers grants to organizations to support the work they’re doing to create policy changes, develop solutions that advocate for survivors and expand community power. Overall, the foundations awards $25 to $35 million a year in grants.
